Summary
Ekkelos, the spiritual leader of the mysterious characters known as the Tantaragor greets Knuckles and demands to know how Plunder came across the idol. Ekkelos is disappointed because by operating the idol he had hoped to transport to the Tantaragor homeworld the three heretics from the Ghost Ship; not Knuckles, Captain Plunder and his dodgy pirate mates! The creatures are followers of the evil priest Orkym-Ro, who recently died after a long illness. The three wished for his stone coffin to be buried in a monument in preparation for the afterlife, and they needed slaves to build it. Slaves from Mobius, of course. Knuckles knows that the heretics have already taken slaves – he met them in part 3, remember? – and he is determined to free the people. So Ekkelos operates the idol and sends Knuckles to the hold of the Ghost ship. Unfortunately for Knuckles, the invincible Tantaragor heretics are already there!
