Summary
"When Doctor Robotnik moved his base of operations to the Metropolis Zone, most people thought that his old Egg Fortress was left deserted."
"They were wrong."
Out of the Egg Fortress, shoot the figures of two Metallixes. Metallix are metal Sonics, and these ones are built in the same style as the ones that Sonic and Amy encountered on the Miracle Planet (also seen in Sonic CD).
"Meanwhile in another part of the Special Zone, Knuckles has just met the mysterious group known as Chaotix."
Vector checks to make sure that it's Knuckles, but the Omni-Viewer confirms that it's definitely Knuckles, Robotnik's famous partner. Ignoring Knuckles explanations, Vector orders Mighty to "soften him up a little". Mighty leaps down and smashes the rock that Knuckles is standing on. Knuckles glides away and Mighty falls through space.
Vector orders Charmee to go and save Mighty, and as Charmee catches him he twitters on about what a fool Knuckles made of Mighty (at which Mighty isn't too pleased).
Knuckles meanwhile has glided to a giant cube and climbs up the side of it, realising that there's no point reasoning with Chaotix, because they're obviously crazy. Then comes a voice, "not all of them echidna", and Espio appears - as a chameleon, he can blend into any background! Espio grabs Knuckles and calls for Nack to help him, but Knuckles swings back and smashes the two aside.
Vector leaps down onto the cube, and as he bares his teeth, he explains that he really shouldn't eat between meals but... He doesn't get a chance to finish his sentence because Knuckles dodges aside and smacks Vector in the mouth.
Omni calls out to stop - he's checked Knuckles' story and he's telling the truth. Knuckles was duped by Robotnik. Vector however is more concerned that he's just bitten his tongue, but Charmy has noticed shadows in the Omni-Viewer and asks if he's getting acne?
Mighty confirms it - something is moving inside him; Omni says it's impossible because nobody can get into his personal workspace without his permission.
As the figures move out of the Omni-Viewer, Knuckles recognises them: "it just can't be! It's Metallix... and now there's two of him!"
