Summary

Nack explains that he sold out Chaotix for money. The Emperor Metallix explains that they could not have broken into the Omni-Viewer without the access codes that Nack provided, and he also tricked his companions into walking into a trap. But now that he is of no further use, the Emperor commands the Metallixes to destroy him.

Nack grabs a small gun from his hat and boosts it up until it's large size; he was afraid that something like this would happen and waits for his disrupter to be ready. But a Metallix blasts him down. Knuckles grabs the gun and fires. As he shoots, the Metallixes suddenly scream: "alert, alert" and shut down.

Espio thinks that Nack will be all right; he didn't take the full force of the Metallix beam. Vector downloads the Omni-Viewer and the guys march out of there.

Later, on the Floating Island, Omni returns Knuckles to his home. The Omni-Viewer doesn't remember much about what happened but assumes that the Metallixes didn't do any damage because he seems to be in full working order. As Omni disappears, Knuckles is still worried. The Metallixes are meant to serve Doctor Robotnik, but it felt like there were working for themselves.

At that moment in the Egg Fortress, the backup systems have been activated and the Metallixes are brought online again. Now that their enemies believe them destroyed, they can continue their plan unhindered. With a pirate copy of the Omni-Viewer, time and space is at their command. Talking to an army of lines up Metallixes, of which only seventeen are visible (two only just), the Emperor concludes: "the day with soon be here when the Brotherhood of Metallix rule supreme!"
