Now, the Emerald Hill Zone have also taken refuge on the island, but when Knuckles returns, the houises are broken into and there's nobody to be seen. As he leaves, we get the scene with Robotnik through the eyes of some mysterious viewpoint that DocZac described. K heads for the Emerald Chamber where some shadow is running along down the room. He chases and catches him, to find it's Porker Lewis (Sonic's technical buddy, but recently retired to the Floating Island after a nervous breakdown). Porker is panicking; he thought Knuckles was 'them' coming back. He's rigged up some transmitting system to get to the Special Zone (Sonic's trapped there -- long story). He gets in contact with CHarmy Bee, who gets Sonic. He's just in time to say, "Sonic, it's terrible, we need your help, it's..." but an explosion blasts the machine apart. Porker is knocked out, and Knuckles turns around to see Doctor Robotnik, his old echidna enemy Doctor Zachary, with half his body restored by robotic equipment (last time we saw Zachary he fell off the Floating Island and we presumed that he died), both flanked by some of the echidna's near-invincible robot guardians under Zachary's control.
