Summary
The Kintobor Computer, however, believes that the authorities will never find the wreckage of the Death Egg on Mobius - it seems that it hit something before ground level. When Johnny asks if it could have hit the Floating Island, Kintobor views it as a distinct possibility. Amy scoffs: the Floating Island is "just a dumb legend".
Meanwhile, Sonic and Tails are flying through the sky, Sonic not believing a word of the Floating Island tale. But to his shock (and Amy's, as Tails radios back to base), they find the Floating Island.
When they get there, they land in the Marble Garden Zone, but it doesn't look busy. Sonic is saved from falling off the edge of the island when he's surprised by an arrow-shooting statue. As only one badnik stands in their way, Sonic attacks it. It's blue and looks like the stupidest badnik that Robotnik has ever made; but when it sticks spikes out of itself, Sonic manages to get his shield up just in time. Apparently, Sonic can vibrate the air in front of him at Sonic speed to create a brief electrical forcefield.
They finally see Robotnik, and Sonic runs to attack - but a fist gets in the way first. As Sonic falls unconscious to the floor, Robotnik introduces Knuckles: "invincible guardian of the Floating Island and my personal bodyguard".
To Be Continued in SONIC THE COMIC #34
This is the first story in Sonic the Comic with Knuckles in it. However, his appearance had been hinted in two specials prior to this story.
