Summary
Knuckles digs a passage to try and let the battle out into the open. Sonic is still rather annoyed, but Knuckles explains that he felt that they were at a disadvantage in the closed space, and that he was bound to help because it was his fault that Robotnik found the base.
An enormous battle ensues. As Robotnik escapes in his Egg-O-Matic, Sonic and Knuckles bash a quite ridiculous number of badniks (all the time urging the other to 'go and lie down' and all the rest), whilst Johnny does his fair share and Porker tries to hide with the Kintobor Ring. Kintobor is a bit annoyed as well - he can't see!
Eventually the battle is over, and Knuckles takes an Egg-O-Matic, saying that he should keep a few as they might come in handy.
Sonic, Johnny and Porker head to their rendezvous point where Amy and Tails have been worried sick. They get into disguises - Sonic is Bob Beaky, and the guys are his travelling circus. They take off in a caravan.
A road block outside the Emerald Hill is guarded by Troopers, but they are let pass.
As the Freedom Fighters ride out of the Emerald Hill, Sonic poses the dillemna that he doesn't know which he hates most: being forced out of their base, or having to face Johnny wearing a ridiculous false moustache! (Johnny feels that it makes him look distinguished!)
