Summary

Sonic is distraught and enraged as he realises that the Metallixes have turned Planet Mobius into a metal world - they only survived because the mysterious properties of the Miracle Planet somehow left them isolated from the effects. Vector thankfully checks him as he wants to take down all the Metallixes there and then, and Chaotix, Porker and Sonic all escape through the Omni-Viewer, returning to Mobius. The Metallixes decide not to pursue: as the Emperor puts it, "the flesh creatures have nowhere left to run."

Sure enough, the guys arrive on the metal wasteland and Sonic immediately starts planning to look for any survivors. Mighty reminds him, in a large scene that shows the grim metal world, that there might not be any survivors.

Just as Sonic is getting desperate, a phalanx of Metallixes arrive. The guys run but eventually come to a dead end. Seeing that they're doomed, Mighty and Espio start up a bet as to who can take down the most before they bite the dust - when a manhole cover opens and they're led underground.

The Metallixes are distracted by a hologram system showing Sonic and Chaotix long enough for them not to notice the bomb. As the guys whizz to safety down the corridor their saviours lift their hoods. One is a bear-creature called Rob - and the other is Doctor Kintobor - the guy that turned into Doctor Robotnik!
