Summary
He's attacked by a knight with an axe... but any closer and it would have really taken his head off! The Marxios, controlling the ride, curse that they missed him but continue to lay traps. A bunch of mud monsters attack, but Knuckles wants to have more fun and attacks them (hoping that these aren't the only monsters the Marxios have).
A bunch of ghouls on the track suffer a similar fate - Knuckles bashes the ceiling and watches them fall. Chicio has an idea - he switches Knuckles onto a part of the track that hasn't been completed yet. He turns on the speed to make him feel queasy, puts him through a loop-the-loop before dunking him in a puddle of red liquid. Since he's trapped in his carriage seat which holds him on tightly he can't get out. A few ghosts are them put in there to disguise that it's the end of the ride, and Knuckles zooms off the track.
But, unknown to the Marxios, Knuckles grabs the axe that nearly took off his head before and wedges it into the track. Then he hoists the carriage up and breaks it off him, before going to find those Marxios...
Grouchio is scared stiff when he sees Knuckles "looking so (ulp) well!" but Knuckles tells him to take it easy - he loved the ride! Relieved, Grouchio announces that he can tell that he made a shrewd move in making Knuckles their partner in the Carnival Night Zone!
