Summary

This is the first story illustrated by Nigel Dobbyn. It's lovely, too. Anyway, recent events are as follows: Robotnik's Death Egg has been destroyed (in the S&K adaptation), and although Sonic gave Knuckles back the Master Emerald, in return he wanted the Emerald Hill Folk to be able to shelter. Knuckles agreed. Now that he has his forcefield online, everything is looking peachy -- nothing can enter the island undetected. It's all rather nice.

Then, an alarm goes off to announce that something unknown has entered the Megapolis ruined city. Some robot is on the prowl and attacks Knuckles; Knuckles fights back and buries it in rubble. He looks to see what it was searching for... and finds Dr. Zachary -- the first of the Echidnas to return to the Floating Island!
