Summary

After spending days carving into shape, Knuckles now has drain power from the Robot Head and feed it to the new Emerald. Unfortunately, as this happens the robot goes online again and starts shooting! Knuckles can't run across the floor without being mown down, but the robot tilts to try and destroy the new Emerald. Knuckles digs through the floor and smashes at the robot, but it flicks Knuckles to the floor. The laser beam glows in preparation... but the robot has been drained off too much power, and announces it will self destruct.

Knuckles remarks that it can talk (he never thought it was sentient), and loosens the wires to stop it going into self-destruct mode. The original robots are made by Echidnas, but the modern technology Zachary used to control them was destroyed when the power was drained.

Knuckles is excited as he hopes that he can find out information from the robot about what things were like in the old days... then he looks around the Chamber where the laser blasts have hit, and notes he'll have to make a few repairs first.
