Summary

The goblins usher the three along the corridors underneath the Land Beyond. These are:

"TAILS: famed hero to the people of the Nameless Zone."
"KNUCKLES: The Nameless Zone folk have mistaken him for Sonic. They also think he is Tails' sidekick."
"MORAIN: Warrior fox of the Nameless Zone. She invited herself on this quest to save the Enchanter Kings."

Eventually, they reach Trogg's sanctum, where the Enchanter Kings are tied up. Trogg eyes Tails, saying that it's a genuine pleasure to see him again, and that they're just in time "to witness the transformation of the pathetic, worthless Enchanter Kings."

Morain is furious - the transformation is the same thing that turned her brother Errol into a crazed monster. But Trogg knows that the Enchanter Kings will take a bit more power to transform. He watches as the moon reaches its zenith, and through a giant pair of lenses, the moonlight focuses on a black orb. Trogg plans to summon the Dark One, whose name is never spoken.

From the orb a green mist arises, and out of it arises the terrible dark one.

But while Trogg and the goblins are busy with the arrival of the Dark One, Knuckles takes his chance to see the Enchanter Kings. They try to escape unseen, but Trogg notices and has the Dark One zap them with his laser eyes.

As Tails is bathed in green light, Trogg cackles:
"As you can see, the situation is hopeless! And, Miles Prower, don't think I've forgotten about you... I will be exacting my revenge very shortly." But Trogg turns his attention to the Enchanter Kings. He plans to have the "miserable weaklings" transform, embrace the dark side and - in short - become just like him.

As the Kings eye the Dark One, one says "Now look here, Trogg, you've gone too far this time?" but Trogg watches and cackles: "too far? This, my old friends, is only the beginning!"
