Summary

Sonic, Knuckles and Tails gather around the statue of Robotnik. Sonic explains that he became a statue when absorbing energy from his emeralds; Knuckles retorts "so you're saying it's my problem? Thanks a lot, Sonic!" But as the two argue, Tails is struggling for breath; they turn around to see the statue with his arm clutched around Tails' neck. Robotnik says: "your little friend can't seem to get his words out. I think there's something wrong with his neck!". Sonic and Knuckles charge into action, but as Sonic spin-attacks, Robotnik suddenly increases in size, becoming the height of the Emerald Chamber. Knuckles runs for the control panel, but Robotnik points a finger and flicks him to the other side of the room.

It seems that Robotnik wasn't dead at all - it simply took his body a little time to adjust to the incredible emerald power. But now that it has, he cackles: "I don't need Grimer, or badniks, or help from the Drakon Empire - I am the force now!"

But he speaks too soon - Knuckles orders Sonic to press a button on the control panel, but Sonic has no idea which one to press - so he presses them all. A beam shoots from the Master Emerald towards Robotnik. Robotnik explodes, crystal everywhere. Knuckles explains that his power was absorbed in a split-second, killing Robotnik.

But a cackle rocks the room. The last page is a full-page rendition of a giant size Robotnik bathed in green light holding the Floating Island in the palm of his hand - and cackling.
