STC #177: NIGHT TERRORS

Summary
Sonic looks at Johnny and screams that he can't be dead. Johnny looks up and explains to Sonic that he's fine - but then the image fades. Sonic wakes up to see Amy beside him, comforting him. But Sonic won't be comforted. Even though Amy says that nobody blames him for Johnny's death, Sonic shouts: "I blame me, Amy! I've risked everyone's lives for years, and it never occured to me that something like this could happen. But now I know what I've got to do."

Meanwhile, in the dark dimension, Grimer has got a fix on the Chaos creature. Robotnik no longer feels depressed and is tucking away at some chicken drumsticks. Grimer discovers that Chaos is heading for the Floating Island...

Knuckles and Porker are in the Emerald chamber. Porker has been studying the energy readings he took from Sonic's eyes, when Amy interrupts that he's gone. Sonic blames himself for Johnny's death and has quit the gang. But then Amy notices a steam around the Chaos Emeralds. The screen connection disappears as Knuckles and Porker turn around to see Chaos!

Chaos' thoughts are clearing now that he is near the emeralds - he can speak again. First he makes the emeralds gravitate toward him and then he absorbs the blue emerald into himself. Knuckles tries to strike at him but falls victim to the creature's strange power to create unreasoning fear in anybody that gets too close.

But without the Chaos Emeralds, the island won't stay in the air for long!

Amy meanwhile rushes out to where Tails is working on his bi-plane, painted purple since the last we saw it. She tells him to get ready to go to the Floating Island - she has an awful feeling that something terrible is about to happen!
