Knuckles knows that if he loses the Emeralds, the island is doomed; but Porker says that if Chaos finishes absorbing the emeralds then they've lost them anyway. So Knuckles flips the switch and the remaining six emeralds shoot out of the island. Chaos screams.
In the dark dimension, Robotnik is putting on his coat (from Sonic Adventure) and Grimer has seen that the emeralds have been scattered across the planet. Robotnik decides that they've skulked in the hole long enough; this is the opportunity that they've been waiting for!
Amy and Tails meanwhile reach Knuckles and Porker in the Emerald Chamber. Knuckles is mourning that it was his responsibility to guard the Chaos Emeralds - his life work. He's failed, so there's no point going on. As the Floating Island falls and tremors shake the Hidden Palace Zone, Knuckles orders them all to leave. Amy grabs a metal bar and asks for one last chance to persuade him...
The Island smashes into the sea, bubbles and falls. Porker, Amy and Knuckles zoom out in the plane, whilst Tails flies. Knuckles thanks Amy, who had hit him over the head with an iron bar to stop him from wallowing in his misery until the island crashed.

The guys land. It seems that the Chaos Emeralds are scattered to all four corners of Mobius, but soon Chaos will find them, and then what will they do. But a voice behind them explains that they'll think of something, because they always do.
The guys look around to see Sonic, who assures them that this time he's back for good!
