STC #183: PERFECT CHAOS

Summary
Ebony and Super Sonic make their way towards Robotnik's retreat - they've located the Chaos Energy, the only thing that can save Super Sonic now.

Meanwhile, inside the fortress, things are going from bad to worse. As Sonic recovers on the floor, Chaos takes the Emeralds, and changes - he takes the form of an enormous octopus monster, Perfect Chaos!

Firstly, he starts to ooze energy, changing the fortress into his own image - a green temple. Robotnik is amused: "the old place was due for a good clear out anyway..."

But Sonic is ready for action: he leaps at Chaos, smashing right through him. Chaos is curious - it appears that his fear effect isn't working on Sonic. But Sonic explains that it's working, but he's concentrating on an emotion of his own - RAGE!

Sonic smashes through and grabs an Emerald. Knuckles, Amy and Tails know that if they can get the emeralds they stand a chance, so leap for it, fighting the fear.

Although Tails manages to prise one free, Chaos sends them flying - now that he has the power of the emeralds, he doesn't need their fear to deal with them!

Grimer is meanwhile pleading with Robotnik to tell him his plan - but Robotnik insists: "I keep on telling you, Grimer, my faithful fool... I don't have a plan. This is the END for us all!"

Grimer is stunned, whispering "you're... you're mad". And he is.

But as Chaos reabsorbs the stolen emerald a new player appears - Super Sonic arrives.

Sonic is furious, but Ebony tries to stop him from attacking Super. Sonic reminds her that he tried to destroy all of Planet Mobius just because he was in a bad mood. But Super Sonic stops Ebony's explanation: he knows Sonic would never believe that he's not still some kind of demon from hell.

But Knuckles notices that Super Sonic looks old and weary. He's a creature composed of Chaos Energy, and his energy is almost used up. Sonic pledges to stop Super from getting near enough to Chaos to "get him recharged" - but it's too late.

Super Sonic dives into Perfect Chaos, and as he floats in the water liquid screams amidst a frenzied crackling of electricity.
