Summary

Tails drops Sonic off on the Floating Island, but as he peeks at the Death Egg in the Launch Base Zone from a vantage point in Sandopolis, a caterkiller badnik attacks. Knuckles arrives, but watches amusedly saying that he'd offer to help but he knows what Sonic would say.

Sonic bashes the badnik, answering for him: "I don't need any help."

Knuckles explains that having dealt with the bunch of jokers known as the Marxio Brothers, he was planning to sort out the Death Egg next. Sonic is angry, and starts lecturing Knuckles on how important the Death Egg is when a voice interrupts him. Filled with dread, Sonic turns around to see...Captain Plunder!

Plunder's later shenanigan has him teaming up with a Metropolis Zone University professor, who has found the secret of the lost pyramid of Sandopolis. As the Pyramid unfolds beneath Sonic, he exclaims that it doesn't look very lost to him!
